Sangre Boliviana: a CD-ROM
My CD-ROM, Sangre Boliviana, tells my story, but it also tells the story of the personal computer. I worked on it for ten years, and during those years, the advances in software and hardware were staggering. When I create multimedia, the most crucial goal is determining what media will further the narrative or the emotional content for narrative purposes.
Over a bright-orange animation accompanied by music from the Andes title, Sangre Boliviana scrolls by. Followed by the subtitle, "A Bilingual Exploration of Being an Immigrant." Then, a frame appears with the words, "Woven by Lucia Grossberger Morales." I intentionally chose the word "woven" for several reasons. I am weaving stories together in multimedia. I am a storyweaver weaving threads of multimedia technology. The word "woven" refers back to the roots of the computer, the loom. And, finally, there is my passion for Bolivian weavings, which often tell the stories of their culture.
